Teaching yoga calls for liability insurance

Post by NACAMSStaff on Fri Apr 27, 2012 11:53 am

As a professional yoga teacher, you most likely realize that the discipline you practice is quite closely related to the medical field. In fact, most of your clients and colleagues probably consider you a health professional. This is not far fetched thinking, for professional yoga instructors are indeed health care practitioners.

As a member of the medical community, it should not be difficult for you to understand the need for yoga teacher liability insurance. While it is true that you do not perform high risk or invasive procedures like other medical professionals, such as oncologists or cardiac surgeons, the fact remains that there is some level of risk involved in the work of a professional yoga instructor.

Fortunately, the risks involved with the work of a professional yoga teacher are far lower than the risks involved with a medical professional such as a surgeon. Because of this reduced risk factor, the cost for your yoga liability insurance will be far lower than the cost of liability insurance for a health care practitioner who offers performs more invasive techniques.
