As a professional yoga practitioner, you most likely work primarily with the energy of each of your clients, along with skillfully channeling and directing your own energy. All of this is typically done in an effort to increase the client’s overall sense of well-being, from stress release and emotional calming to the easing of physical pain and fatigue.

Although the practice of yoga is clearly a healing profession that does not mean yoga teachers are free from the risks that accompany running a business of any kind, especially a business that caters to members of the public in an intimate, one on one fashion.

To protect yourself and your yoga teaching practice from the risks inherent to running a business, it is important to secure yoga liability insurance. A yoga liability insurance policy will provide the coverage you need in case something unexpected takes place in your yoga studio, such as a client getting hurt on your property or claiming damage or injury due to something that occurs during the session.

Even if you absolutely cannot imagine a client ever claiming damage or injury due to something that took place in your session room, it is still worth having yoga insurance, if only for the general liability portion of coverage—the part that will protect you in case a client does slip, trip or fall on the property of your practice.
